Main firmware updater for Lumi-Con 4X3 MICRO, Pico firmware located at the bottom for DIY builders.
Before you start
Quick checks before you plug in and flash.
Chrome or EdgeUse desktop Chrome or Edge for the browser installer.
Data cableA charge-only cable will not show the device to the browser.
Close toolsShut Arduino Serial Monitor and anything else using the serial port.
Firmware buttonFor main controller flashing, hold the red-and-black Firmware button to prevent Pico-to-ESP serial errors.
Main controller flashing steps
Read through these steps once, then use the updater directly underneath.
- Connect the main controller by USB.
- Find the small red-and-black Firmware button on the inline switch between the Pico TX line and the ESP RX line. If it is tucked inside the case, feed it out through the gap in the casing so you can hold it.
- Hold the Firmware button, then click the install button in the updater below and choose the LumiCon serial device when the browser prompts you.
- Keep holding the Firmware button during the install.
- Release it once flashing is complete.
- If flashing fails, unplug the 4x3 keypad and try again.
Clean install option: checking Erase device clears saved Wi-Fi settings and pet data. Leave it unchecked if you want to keep them where possible.
Firmware updater
This is the Main updater for 4X3 MICRO, use this to apply firmware updates. For DIY builders, this is the ESP8266 firmware, the Pico firmware is below.
Latest is the default recommended build and currently points to version 1.0.3.
Clean install option
- Checked: performs a clean install and clears saved Wi-Fi settings and pet data.
- Unchecked: keeps existing Wi-Fi settings and pet data where possible.
- Use erase for recovery, a clean reset, or if the device is behaving oddly after an update.

How to flash the keypad Pico
- Unplug the keypad board.
- Hold the BOOTSEL button while connecting USB.
- The board should appear as a removable drive, usually named
RPI-RP2. - Drag the downloaded
.uf2file onto that drive. - The board will copy the file, reboot, and disconnect the temporary drive automatically.
